Circular Quay Suicide – Sydney police investigate person death in Circular Quay

Authorities are investigating a recent death at Circular Quay, Sydney’s iconic waterfront destination. The incident occurred near Campbells Cove, a popular area for both locals and tourists.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 7:00 AM after reports of a body in the water. Upon arrival, officers recovered the body of a woman in her early twenties. Despite attempts by paramedics to resuscitate her, she was declared deceased at the scene.

While the death is not currently being treated as suspicious, authorities are seeking information to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident. NSW Police have released CCTV footage showing a couple walking along a harbourside wharf, which may assist in the investigation. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward.

This incident adds to a series of recent deaths in Sydney’s waterways. In April 2024, a man in his 50s was found floating near Pyrmont’s Pirrama Wharf. Authorities are treating that case as potentially suspicious, pending autopsy results.

The investigation into the Circular Quay death is ongoing, and police continue to appeal to the public for assistance. A report will be prepared for the coroner to determine the cause of death.
